5/30/05 - 6/5/05

Mark your calendars, Vendyl Jones claims to know where the ark of the covenant is and plans to reveal it by 8/14.
That same month, Ariel Sharon plans to have the Jewish settlement withdraw from the Gaza strip to make room for a Palestinian state. This development will throw a big monkey wrench into those plans. Could the timing be pure coincidence? If this happens, you can bet that the 3rd temple will be built on the Temple Mount very soon. What to do with the Islamic Mosque that’s sitting there??? Hmmm… This can get very interesting.

Ark of the Covenant's discovery imminent?

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" is one of my all-time favorite movies, filled with mystery and adventure. It focuses on the search for a biblical artifact and treasure called The Ark of the Covenant. What makes the movie particularly exciting is how closely it mimics (with some added Hollywood flair) the real life hunt for the lost Ark.
History has it that the original Ark was where God manifested His presence on earth beginning in the days of Moses. The Ark was designed as a chest made of acacia wood overlaid with gold. It had four golden rings. Each one attached to a corner. These rings provided a means to carry the Ark by inserting two wooden bars (also overlaid with gold) on either side. Atop the Ark were two golden cherubim spreading their wings over the Ark's cover also known as the mercy seat.
The Ark itself contained the Ten Commandments and was housed in the innermost room of the Jewish Temple called the Holy of Holies. Here it was the center of worship, although actual access to the Ark was permitted only once a year on the Day of Atonement called Yom Kippur. On that day, the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies with the blood of a goat to make atonement for the sins of the Israelites.
Other contents of the Ark included Aaron's rod and a golden pot of manna. Additionally, the Ark is renowned for its mysterious powers. According to the Bible, when the Ark was carried by the people of Israel into battle, it protected the Israelites, supernaturally defeating any adversaries that came before them.
This explains why in the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" the Nazis were intent on obtaining it. Their theory (as the story line goes) was that they would be unbeatable if they possessed the Ark and could harness its mysterious powers. Of course, as both the movie and history would have it, things didn't quite work out for the Nazis.
But what of the Ark?
It is believed to have disappeared with the destruction of the First Temple by King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon in 586 B.C. The exact whereabouts of the Ark have remained a mystery ever since.
One theory is that the Ark was taken from ancient Jerusalem by Prince Menelik of Ethiopia. Menelik was the son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Menelik purportedly brought the Ark to his country for safekeeping where it currently remains housed in a church in Axum.
Another theory is that the Ark was hidden in a secret chamber housed beneath Jerusalem's Temple Mount. The alleged secret chamber was created by either King Solomon, who built the First Temple, or a subsequent king before the temple was plundered by Nebuchadnezzar.
One version of this theory suggests that in the early 12th century a group of nine Frenchmen known as the original Knights Templars excavated beneath the site of the old Temple of Jerusalem. They retrieved the true Ark of the Covenant and secreted it away.
A second more popular version suggests the Ark is still located in a vault somewhere in the miles of tunnels carved beneath the city of Jerusalem. It is believed the location of the Ark will be revealed when the time is right for the Jewish Temple to be built for the third time.
One famous adherent to this theory is Dr. Vendyl Jones. He is a modern-day explorer and teacher and the true inspiration for the Indiana Jones series. Startling the world, he announced last week on Israel National Radio that he actually knows the location of the Ark.
He says according to ancient documents the Ark is hidden in a secret passage that runs 18 miles south of the Temple Mount into the Judean Desert. Before dismissing his claim as a lark, it is worth noting that Jones published a book in 1959 predicting the precise outbreak of the Six Day War.
He calculated the war in 1967 by analyzing the sequence of events in the First Temple period and transposing them on the Third Temple period. The First Temple period began with its original construction in the days of King Solomon. The Third Temple period began according to Jones with the Jews founding an independent state in the land of Israel in 1948.
Now Jones is convinced that with the help of ancient documents found in Qumran, he has pinpointed the location of the Ark. And armed with the blessing of religious leaders, Jones hopes to reveal the location of the Ark by Aug. 14, which marks the Fast of Tisha B'Av. This holy day commemorates repeated tragedy in Jewish history including the destruction of both the First and the Second Holy Temples.
Jones' plan is simple. It is to drill a borehole into the chamber containing the Ark, drop a pin-camera in and reveal the historic treasure to a watching world.
If Jones is right, many predict this event will turn the world upside down. Jones says this will bring an end to the government's plan to uproot Jews of Gaza and northern Samaria. It also will bring the very idea of any Palestinian state to a screeching halt. In fact, Jones predicts quite the opposite will occur. With the discovery of the Ark, the Jewish people will have the greatest motivation of all time to return to Israel from around the world and rebuild the Temple to house this holy treasure.
Of course, whether Jones actually uncovers the Ark is not the sole issue. Equally compelling is proving once more through science that the Bible is more than just a collection of parables. Are you ready for this?

Is France’s rejection of the European Constitution a major setback for the consolidation of nations in that part of the world and ultimately the New World Order’s plans? My take is that the European and the U.S. philosophy in achieving the NWO has always been quite different. The European philosophy has always been to achieve this gradually, almost to the point where it happens invisibly. The U.S. philosophy has been to pursue this aggressively, bulldoze their way and pummel the world into submission to accept the NWO. There has been much disagreement between the 2 factions with their respective philosophies. This development may be a setback to the European way of achieving this goal but at the same time help the U.S. build their case for grabbing the bull by the horns. Looking at the big picture, this may accelerate the process of attaining the NWO, which ultimately both sides have in common.

EU faces crisis after France rejects EU charter
By Timothy Heritage

PARIS (Reuters) - France overwhelmingly rejected the European Union constitution on Sunday, pitching the EU deep into crisis and dealing a potentially fatal blow to a charter designed to make the enlarged bloc run smoothly.
EU leaders said after a referendum "no" vote that the treaty was not dead and member states should continue the ratification process. But British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said the rejection raised profound questions about the future of the EU.
The heavy defeat dreaded by EU leaders could weaken France in the 25-member bloc, stall European integration and unsettle some financial markets. It also wounds President Jacques Chirac two years before presidential and parliamentary elections.
"The French people have given a huge smack in the face to an entire system that has the nerve to tell us what to think," said nationalist French politician Philippe de Villiers, a leading opponent of the charter. "The constitution is no more."
Chirac swiftly conceded defeat in a televised address to the nation as the "No" camp celebrated a crushing victory with about 55 percent of votes to 45 percent and hinted that he might respond by dismissing his unpopular prime minister.
Such a resounding defeat in a country that has been a key pillar of the EU reduced the chances of a repeat vote on the treaty, which is intended to make EU decision-making easier and requires the backing of all member states to go into force.
The Netherlands holds its own referendum on the EU constitution on Wednesday and Dutch ministers urged voters on Sunday to ignore the result in France. A Dutch "No" vote, as opinion polls forecast, would plunge the EU even deeper into crisis.
But Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, whose country holds the EU's rotating president, said nearly half the 454 million EU citizens had already backed the charter and added: "The European process does not come to a halt today."
He said EU leaders would review the situation at their next regular summit on June 16-17, adding that it would be impossible to renegotiate the treaty.
CHIRAC PROMISES CHANGES
As a large crowd of flag-waving treaty opponents celebrated victory in Place de la Bastille in Paris, a major landmark of the 1789 French Revolution, Chirac dropped his heaviest hint so far that he plans to remove Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
"I intend to respond ... by giving a new and strong impetus to the action of the government," Chirac said in his address.
Many voters used the vote to punish the government over France's economy and high unemployment. Chirac, 72, ignored calls by some members of the "No" camp to step down.
The euro fell just over half a cent in early trading in Asia to 1.2516/19, down from 1.2573 in New York on Friday, despite already falling in recent weeks partly because of doubts about the fate of the constitution.
"The euro is the currency of Europe and investors are going to have worries about the future of economic policies in a zone where citizens cannot get a common view," said Chloe Magnier, an economist at French broker CM-CIC Securities.
Economists said the result could also hit the Turkish lira because it could be seen as a protest against Turkey's efforts to join the EU, would probably weigh on business sentiment in France and could slam the brakes on economic reforms there.
Many voters resent what they see as France's declining role in the Union, especially with the expansion to 25 members last year, and say the treaty enshrines economic policies that have failed to stop the loss of jobs to low-wage economies.
Britain's Straw declined to say whether London still planned to hold its own referendum next year.
"This raises profound questions for all of us about the future direction of Europe," Straw told reporters. "What we want now is a period of reflection."
"The referendum result is a blow for the constitutional process, but not the end of it," German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said. "It is also not the end of the German-French partnership in and for Europe."
Nine countries have approved the treaty, including Germany which alongside France drove creation of the post-World War II economic alliance that developed into the European Union.
If the constitution does not survive, the EU will continue to operate under its current rules. But the system is widely seen as unworkable for a Union intent on enlarging further, and decision-making could soon become paralyzed.
The constitution was signed by EU leaders last October in Rome after long and tough negotiations.

In a stunning reversal of roles, France went from champion of European integration to staunch defender of French nationalism.
By Stewart Nusbaumer
France soundly rejected Europe’s first proposed constitution and threw the breaks on the further integration of Europe, sending conservative globalists and liberal internationalists into a near panic.

In a national referendum on Sunday, 57 percent of French voters rejected the constitution while only 43 percent supported the proposal.

The product of more than two years of negotiations and signed by European Union leaders in Rome in October, the constitution was designed to make decision-making easier among 25 countries in the bloc, while laying the foundation for a European president and foreign minister, and creating an even more powerful Parliament. In short, the constitution was designed to create something akin to United States of Europe.

Since the European Union's constitution cannot go into force without the backing of all member states, and the French government has been one of the main pillars for greater European integration, the momentum for a more centralized Europe has suddenly been stopped.

According to commentators in France, there are three major reasons for the defeat of the European constitution. First, a majority of French felt that Brussels -- the seat of the European community -- was pushing an “Anglo-Saxon” economic model onto them, which is a system that relies more upon markets and less upon government intervention. Second, there are concerns about Muslim Turkey's entrance into the European Union, which is unpopular in France where a large Muslim minority is not integrated into society and is viewed with suspicion. Finally, with unemployment running at 10 percent in France, voters were turned off by a European constitution that gave national leaders less control over their economy.

But there is more to France's rejection of the European constitution.

The Nationalist Factor

Few words carry a lower reputation in the vernacular of the modern than “nationalism.” It is attacked as the cause of every evil known on this planet, from war to famine to genocide to environmental destruction to narrow mindedness to vile racism to.... Nationalists are slammed as agents of a brutal history, and slandered as reactionaries who are hostile to the very notion of progress.

With nationalism blatantly horrible, it is seldom discussed, just attacked, and then quickly dismissed. European bureaucrats, tucked away in offices in far-off Brussels and feeling confident that the “scourge of Europe” was dead forever, never imagined (until it was too late) that the French tribe would actually vote for nationalism.

In fact, nationalism is far from dead. And it is far from pure evil, being the source of much good.

In a world that is increasingly elite-driven, with ethnic diversity shrinking and global uniformity more common, with the sense of alienation on the rise and community identity shrinking, the nation state is still looked upon by most people of the world as the best system of government. It is home to most legislation that protects individuals and the environment. It is what people feel the safest with, and it is what they give their greatest loyalty to, after family and friends. Like most people, the French are leery of jumping on the transnational dream.

For some time, Europe -- with France taking a leading role -- has been in the vanguard for greater regionalization, if not with the United States or the New World Order, both of which seek to weaken nation states to enhance the unrestricted flow of capital and labor across national borders. The introduction of the Euro to replace national currencies was considered a major step forward. The coordination of immigration and border control was viewed as a positive act to weaken national sovereignty. And the enactment of the constitution was to be a crowning achievement for the centralization of European power.

The French rejection of the constitution has muddled if not killed (at least for now) the demolition of the European nation state. The referendum’s results are not, however, a statement for isolationism, although that will be the spin put out by the elite. The results are a demand for moderation, to take the political evolution of the transnational slower. But globalists who arrogantly predicted their world-without-borders would soon be realized and internationalists who smugly dismissed nationalists as a legacy of the cave man, they do have something new to worry about. And that is, if they continue to push too hard and too fast with few if any benefits for common people, then their “modern” world could become history in the 21st century.

It’s clear that the globalists are targeting Iran. The problem is that the public will not approve of a pre-emptive attack. the public has already seen the mess that has taken place in Iraq and the result of such action. The only way to get the public riled up to accept an attack on Iran is to stage another 9-11 type attack. George Galloway, a member of the British parliament, basically shredded the U.S. Senate exposing their lies and deceptions on C-Span. He is concerned of the same possibility of a staged attack.

Galloway Wary Of Staged Terror Attack As Pretext For Iran Invasion
Prison Planet | June 1 2005
George Galloway made worldwide headlines on May 17th when he appeared in front of a Senate committee on investigations, after its members accused him of profiteering from Saddam Hussein's regime by receiving vouchers for oil, despite the fact that such allegations against Galloway had already been proven to be based on forged documents.
Galloway did what no American on Capitol Hill could, he told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Galloway turned the tables and put the entire US establishment on trial for arming Saddam, imposing genocidal sanctions which killed a million Iraqis, and then the two illegal wars which killed and maimed hundreds of thousands more.
Galloway appeared as a guest on The Alex Jones Show to discuss his Senate appearance and the subsequent fallout it generated.
At the end of the show Alex Jones asked Galloway if he thought an invasion of Iran was on the horizon. Galloway was confident that massively opposed public opinion would stop an attack from taking place, unless a staged terror attack carried out by the military industrial complex and blamed on Iran was carried out.
JONES: "What do we do if the military-industrial complex carries out a terror attack to blame it on them?"
GALLOWAY: "Well that's another very real danger. There's no way we can legislate for that but we must be on guard. We need a vigilant citizenry."
JONES: "Unbelievable."
GALLOWAY: "We need a vigilant citizenry that are wise to all the tricks that these monkeys are up to."

This article is from a couple of months ago but I had to put it in here. It goes along with my hypothesis mentioned in the introduction.

How UFOs Relate to the New World Order
ByHenryMakowPh.D.
February 05, 2005
Like most people my opinion of flying saucers and aliens was programmed by the mass media.
I thought they were possible but highly unlikely and speculative.
Now I know better, thanks to Dr. Stephen Greer's book "Disclosure: Military and Government Witnesses Reveal the Greatest Secrets in Modern History." (2001) His web site is www.disclosureproject.org
Stephen Greer is a country doctor from North Carolina who has a wife, four children, a dog and a faith in American values. Since 1992, he has collected video and written testimony from some 400 retired members of the U.S. military, intelligence and aeronautics industry including Presidential advisors, generals, pilots and two astronauts many of whom had Top-Secret clearance.
The gist of this overwhelming evidence is that every year we have thousands of visits from UFOs, which are tracked on radar at speeds ranging from 5000 to 20,000 mph. There are also thousands of signals reaching the earth from outer space.
Over the last 60 years many UFOs have crashed or have been shot down by missiles or laser beams. The US has recovered these spaceships and replicated some of the technology. It has recovered aliens both dead and alive.
The revelations contained in "Disclosure" have profound implications for the fate of humanity. They reveal that the laws of physics as we know them are obsolete. Space is not empty but an energy field that can provide an infinite supply of free energy and propulsion.
Thanks to extraterrestrial contact, the technology already exists to release humanity from its dependence on its dwindling reserves of polluting fossil fuels, which is the cause of war.
I am not asking you to believe this right away. People think they must either accept or reject a new idea. There is a third alternative: reserve judgment.
Keep in mind that your attitudes to UFOs were shaped by "experts" like Dr. Carl Sagan, who was on the CIA payroll. The CIA employs a small army of people to mislead you.
I urge you to get Dr. Greer's 570-page book. It may be one of the most important you ever read. You can send your address and $22 (incl. shipping) to this pay pal address: orders@disclosureproject.org It is also available from Amazon.
Nick Cook, the Aviation Editor of Jane's Defense Weekly, also confirms this general picture in a book "The Hunt for Zero Point" which I also recommend. He traces the development and suppression of zero gravity technologies over the last 80 years.

COVER-UP

Witnesses describe a massive and coordinated cover-up. People who have had UFO contact are ridiculed and warned that their career will end if they speak. Their lives and their family's lives are threatened. Many people have "disappeared."
A network of military and intelligence agencies along with major defense contractors is responsible for the cover-up. Generally speaking, they are not accountable to the President and Congress. Dr. Greer has met with many Senators who frankly admit they are "not in the loop."
The purpose of this cover-up is both economic and political. At the end of the Nineteenth Century, London-based bankers established their power and wealth on the basis of large international cartels. In the US, they used their control of the railroad to favor their agent J.D. Rockefeller with low rates enabling him to eliminate competition.
The same principle applied to the coal and steel cartels. Later they expanded to defense, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and media. They run the US from London through their American partners.
As my readers know, the goal of these bankers and their allies is to formalize a thinly veiled totalitarian world government. The presence of extraterrestrials and new technology is interfering with this plan. The bankers have trillions of dollars invested in old technology. They will release the new technology only if and when it suits them. In the meantime, they use it to keep us enslaved, and to ward off more advanced civilizations.

COORDINATION

How do they coordinate a cover-up that extends to so many countries? I don't know the answer to this but there is a disturbing possibility that national differences may be more apparent than real. Through Communism they took control of Russia and China. After World War Two, they took over Japan and continental Europe.
Witnesses describe secret meetings dedicated to the subject of extraterrestrials that involved an international cast. The New World Order has been here a long time. They are unveiling it gradually.
In the US alone, the cover-up must extend to hundreds of government agencies, military units, research labs and corporations. How is that coordinated?
Again, I do not know, but if I had to guess, I'd venture it is controlled by Freemasonry through their network, which I understand is well represented in these areas.
Dr. Greer quotes Senator Daniel Inouye: "There exists a shadowy Government with its own Air Force, its own navy, it's own fundraising mechanism, and the ability to pursue its own ideas of the national interest, free from all checks and balances, and free from the law itself."
Indeed the emerging picture is that the London bankers use this occult secret network to control the planet. This Satanic "religion" is indeed the secret guiding principle behind our ideas of "progress" and what is "modern."

PRISON PLANET

Many civilizations in the universe may be thousands of years in advance of ours. Increasingly they appear to view banker-controlled mankind as a potential menace, with reason. Strange as this may sound, the focus of UFO attention has been the bankers' nuclear installations. They appear to be actively resisting the US plan to put weapons in space.
Space-based weaponry is presented to the public as a deterrent against "rogue nations" like North Korea. In fact, it seems to have a dual purpose that has nothing to do with this. It is designed to prevent "alien influences" from liberating us from our mental, spiritual and economic bondage, at the same time as controlling us physically.
Apparently this scenario has been in place at least since the 1970's. According to the testimony of Dr. Carol Rossin, which is on line, Werner Von Braun warned her about it in 1974. He said the aim was "to control the Earth from space and space itself."
Dying from cancer, Von Braun enlisted Rossin, a fellow executive at Fairchild Industries, to help educate the public and decision-makers. He regarded space-based weapons as "dumb, dangerous, destabilizing, too costly, unnecessary and unworkable."
Significantly he outlined the five-step "scare tactics" used to justify them. First the public has been made to fear the Communists; then "terrorists"; then "rogue nations"; then "asteroids" and finally "extraterrestrials."
"Remember Carol, the last card is the alien card. We are going to have to build space-based weapons against aliens and all of it is a lie," he told her.
The program is slowly unfolding as Von Braun predicted. We are at the rogue nation, terrorist stage.
A 2002 report concludes: "The continued development of these space systems seriously undermines the claim that the U.S. missile defence project is purely defensive in nature. Instead, the dual use capability of both the SBL and kinetic kill vehicles makes them inherently threatening to the space assets and national security of other countries. ... The possibility of sparking an arms race in space, with seriously detrimental effects on global commerce, communications and security, should not be underestimated."

CONCLUSION

The "dual use capability" of US space weapons might also be designed to deter advanced civilizations that pose a threat to the Masonic bankers' monopoly of power and wealth, and their satanic New World Order agenda.
Yes, it would be better if a large flying saucer landed on the field
during half time at the Superbowl and ETs emerged. But Dr. Stephen
Greer's book is credible. Don't dismiss it without reading it first.
Far fetched as it sounds, at the rate we're going, extraterrestrials
could represent degenerate mankind's best hope. Who knows what form
Divine intervention can take? If we won't represent God, maybe a more
advanced civilization will.

A new Bible is out that portrays Jesus as a woman. All in the name of sexual equality and political correctness. “Daughter of Man, anyone?” I’m speechless.

The propaganda wars continue. Look out for China. The media is building up a case for WW III. Notice how China is linked with North Korea in this article? Let's see, we have China, North Korea, Syria, Iran as military threats. Let's see how many more countries are added to this list in the days ahead.

Rumsfeld warns on China military
North Korea seen as worldwide threat

Saturday, June 4, 2005 Posted: 4:08 AM EDT (0808 GMT)

SINGAPORE (AP) -- China's military buildup, particularly its positioning of hundreds of missiles facing Taiwan, is a threat to Asian security, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Saturday.

Rumsfeld rebuked China at a regional security conference in Singapore, saying it was pouring huge resources into its military and buying large amounts of sophisticated weapons despite facing no threat from any other country.

The Pentagon chief's remarks signaled a harder line against China from the Bush administration, which has criticized Beijing over trade and human rights issues but not directly challenged its military buildup.

The director of the Asia bureau of China's foreign ministry, Cui Tiankai, was in the audience for Rumsfeld's speech and reacted strongly.

"Since the U.S. is spending a lot more money than China is doing on defense, the U.S. should understand that every country has its own security concerns and every country is entitled to spend money necessary for its own defense," Cui told The Associated Press after Rumsfeld's remarks.

Rumsfeld said the Pentagon's annual assessment of China's military capabilities shows China is spending more than its leaders acknowledge, expanding its missile capabilities and developing advanced military technology.

China now has the world's third-largest military budget, he said, behind the United States and Russia. He did not say how large the U.S. believes China's military budget is.

"Since no nation threatens China, one must wonder: Why this growing investment? Why these continuing large and expanding arms purchases?" Rumsfeld said at the conference organized by the International Institute of Strategic Studies, a private, London-based think tank.

Cui responded sharply to Rumsfeld during a question-and-answer session.

"Do you truly believe that China is under no threat by other countries?" Cui asked. "Do you truly believe that the U.S. is threatened by the emergence of China?"

Rumsfeld said he does not think any country threatened China and that the United States did not see China as a threat.

Central to the disagreement is Taiwan, a self-governing island Beijing regards as a renegade territory.

China has said it will attack Taiwan if the island tries to declare independence, and it repeatedly calls on the United States to stop selling weapons to Taiwan.

Beijing denounced a joint U.S.-Japan statement earlier this year saying the two allies shared the objective of a peaceful resolution of the Taiwan issue.

The United States is urging the European Union to keep in place its ban on selling weapons to China. Washington argues that any European weapons sold to China could be used in a conflict over Taiwan.

"I just look at the significant rollout of ballistic missiles opposite Taiwan, and I have to ask the question: If everyone agrees the question of Taiwan is going to be settled in a peaceful way, why this increase in ballistic missiles opposite Taiwan?" Rumsfeld said.

He also questioned China's government, saying political freedom there had not kept pace with increasing economic freedom.

"Ultimately, China will need to embrace some form of a more open and representative government if it is to fully achieve the political and economic benefits to which its people aspire," he said.

The defense secretary, who has said he would like to visit China this year, also pressed Beijing to use its influence with North Korea to restart six-nation talks over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.

North Korea has stayed away for a year from the talks with China, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Russia.

Rumsfeld said the United Nations might need to decide what to do about the nuclear threat from North Korea, which declared in February that it has atomic bombs.

North Korea says it needs a nuclear deterrent because of what it calls Washington's "hostile policy" against it.

Rumsfeld said North Korea was a worldwide threat because of its record of selling missile technology and other weapons.

"One has to assume that they'll sell anything, and that they would sell nuclear weapons," he said.

Similar U.S. criticism of North Korea has sparked an angry response from Pyongyang.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency this week called Vice President Dick Cheney a "bloodthirsty beast" for saying that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il was irresponsible.

U.S. President George W. Bush and other administration officials say the U.S. has no intention of attacking North Korea.

Tensions between the two nations have been rising in recent months.

Last week, the Pentagon suspended its only contact with North Korea efforts to search for the remains of missing servicemen from the Korean War.

U.S. officials said they could not guarantee the search teams' safety in remote areas.

Now they are saying that the U.S. guards kicked the Koran and splashed urine on it. This is reminiscent of the Newsweek article last week regarding the flushing of the Koran down the toilet which was retracted. Only this time, this is being admitted. I don't think the Muslims worldwide are feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

How would you feel if someone constantly threw spitballs at you? After a while, wouldn't you walk over and beat the snot out of him? This fits in exactly with the plan to orchestrate another terror attack and using Al Qaeda as the scapegoat.

U.S.: Guards, detainees mishandled Quran
Guantanamo Bay personnel cited in 4 incidents confirmed by military

Saturday, June 4, 2005 Posted: 11:37 AM EDT (1537 GMT)

(CNN) -- A U.S. military investigation has found four incidents in which guards at the Guantanamo Bay prison mishandled the Quran, but said that it was detainees who threw the Muslim holy book in the toilet.

The report said it confirmed four times when U.S. personnel at the base mishandled the Quran: guards kicked a detainee's Quran; a guard's urine "splashed" a detainee and his holy book and guards in a water balloon fight that resulted in two detainees' Qurans getting wet.

In a fifth confirmed incident, it could not be determined whether a guard or a detainee wrote a two-word obscenity in a Quran.

On Saturday, the White House said the incidents were isolated and do not reflect the behavior of the majority of military personnel.

"Our men and women in the military adhere to the highest standards, including when it comes to respecting and protecting religious freedom," spokesman Scott McClellan said. "The military expects its high standards to be met, and does not tolerate or condone it when individuals do not -- as this report makes clear."

The findings of the report, issued by Brig. Gen. Jay Hood, commander of the detention center in Cuba, were released late Friday. They found no evidence to support allegations that U.S. soldiers attempted to flush the Muslim holy book down the toilet.

The investigation was prompted after a Newsweek article citing unnamed sources made such a claim -- prompting violent protests in Afghanistan and other parts of the Muslim world that left more than a dozen people dead. (Full story)

Newsweek has since retracted the story.

The Hood report cited three separate incidents in which detainees put their holy book in the toilet or tried to flush it.

In one incident, on February 23, 2004, the report said a guard saw a "detainee place two Qurans in his toilet and state he no longer cared about the Quran or his religion.

Five minutes later, after the detainee retrieved the Qurans, he ripped several pages out of one Quran and threw the pages on the floor. Then, he placed both Qurans on the sink."

Another time, on January 19, 2005, a detainee "tore up his Quran and tried to flush it down the toilet. Four guards witnessed the incident," the report said.

The report also cited 12 other incidents by detainees, including one who used his Quran as a pillow, another who urinated on his holy book and several who ripped pages from the Quran.

Capt. Jeff Weir, an Army spokesman at the facility, told CNN by phone that the detainees were typically trying to stage some form of protest when they mishandled the Quran.

Hood said investigators reviewed more than 30,000 documents in an exhaustive probe.

"The inquiry found no credible evidence that a member of the Joint Task Force at Guantanamo Bay ever flushed a Quran down a toilet. This matter is considered closed," the report said.

It said the U.S. military has issued more than 1,600 copies of the Quran since January 2002, conducted more than 28,000 interrogations and carried out thousands of "cell moves."

"Mishandling a Quran at Guantanamo Bay is a rare occurrence," Hood said. "Mishandling of a Quran here is never condoned."

The investigators defined mishandling as "touching, holding or the treatment of a Quran in a manner inconsistent with policy or procedure."

Hood said the investigative team looked into 19 incidents involving allegations of mishandling of the holy book, only five of which could be confirmed.

Ten incidents did not involve mishandling of the Quran, the report concluded. Four incidents could not be verified.

According to the report, the five confirmed incidents were:

In February 2002, a detainee complained that guards kicked the Quran belonging to a detainee in a nearby cell.

On July 25, 2003, a contract interrogator apologized to a detainee for stepping on his Quran in an earlier interview. The interrogator was later fired "for a pattern of unacceptable behavior, an inability to follow direct guidance and poor leadership."

On August 15, 2003, night shift guards threw water balloons in a cell block, wetting the Qurans of two detainees.

On August 21, 2003, a detainee complained that a "two-word obscenity had been written in English on the inside cover of his English version Quran." The report noted that the detainee knew English and Arabic, and it could not be determined exactly who wrote the phrase. "It is possible that a guard committed this act; it is equally possible that the detainee wrote in his own Quran."

On March 25, 2005, a detainee said "urine came through an air vent" and "splashed on him and his Quran while he laid near the air vent." A guard admitted he was at fault, saying he urinated near an air vent and the "wind blew his urine through the vent into the block." The detainee was given a new uniform and Quran. The guard was reprimanded and placed on gate guard duty away from detainees.

Weir, the Army spokesman at the facility, said about 540 suspected terrorists are housed at the maximum security prison. Noting that only five incidents of mishandling of the Quran could be confirmed, he said, "I will stand by the record here; It's outstanding."

He said even if a U.S. soldier was "contemplating misbehaving," it would be extremely difficult.

"Nothing goes unchecked in Guantanamo Bay," he said. "Everything is documented."

There are about 540 detainees at Guantanamo Bay. Some have been there more than three years without being charged with a crime. Most were captured on the battlefields of Afghanistan in 2001 and 2002 and were sent to Guantanamo Bay in hope of extracting useful intelligence about the al Qaeda terrorist network.

Both U.S. President George W. Bush and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld have denounced an Amnesty International report that called the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay "the gulag of our time."

The president told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday that the report by the human-rights group was "absurd."

On Wednesday, Rumsfeld called the characterization "reprehensible" and said the U.S. military had taken care to ensure that detainees were free to practice their religion.

However, he also acknowledged that some detainees had been mistreated, even "grievously" at times.

Keep your fingers crossed. Come on you people, don't do anything stupid now.
This is the second time Jewish extremists have organized something like this, this year. Everytime this happens, it feels like a bull walking through a china shop.

All it takes is one Jewish extremist to take matters into his own hands or a single offended Muslim extremist for that matter. It doesn't take much to start something that can get out of control in this area.

Extremist Jewish Organizations Plan to Storm Al Aqsa Mosque on Monday

GAZA, June 2, 2005 (IPC + Agencies) - - A number of Jewish extremist organizations called on Jews to storm the holy Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem on Monday, in order to perform their rituals in it.

The Jewish call would coincide with "Jerusalem Day" marked by Jews on June 6 and is celebrated by marking the "Jerusalem Unification Day"; the day where Israeli occupation forces occupied East Jerusalem and claimed it to be a "unified and eternal capital of Israel".

These Jewish organizations distributed leaflets calling on their supporters to participate in the rituals that would be held near Lion Gate in Jerusalem, prior to storming the holy mosque.

Three of the extremist Jewish organizations called to holding prayers and a sit-in in front of the mosque, in order to storm the mosque and celebrate the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem.

The leaflet mentioned that the extremist Israeli Knesset member Arieh Eldad, from Moledet movement, along with rabbis from Gaza Strip and West Bank settlements will take part in the sit-in, in addition to popular and prominent Jewish figures.

The leaflet pointed out that all of the organization's activities, including the storming of the mosque, have been coordinated with Israeli security forces, and would also include bringing in a miniature model of the alleged Jewish Temple into Al Aqsa Mosque and pictures of the Israeli forces invading and occupying East Jerusalem.

In the early 2000’s there was a shift in people’s TV viewing interest from the “Seinfeld” type sitcoms to reality based TV shows. It looks like we’re in for another shift in pop culture interest. Do the TV networks gear their programming towards the current public’s trend of thinking or is the public’s trend of thinking molded by what’s presented to them by the networks? What came first, the chicken or the egg? I think it’s a combination of both. Now it’s getting blatantly occult inspired.

New TV Season Jumps on Supernatural Trend
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer
Sun May 22,12:34 PM ET
NEW YORK - Here's some advice to television viewers who want to know what next fall's season will be like: Be afraid, be very afraid.
Be afraid of poisonous spiders crawling over your face while you sleep; of aliens invading human bodies or landing in a spaceship in the Atlantic Ocean; of a ghostly woman in white who kills; of sickos who kidnap women and keep them in cages.
There's plenty to give you the creeps, both from the ever-replicating cop shows and the upcoming season's biggest trend — the supernatural.
CBS is introducing a two-hour block on Friday nights, with Jennifer Love Hewitt talking to dead people in one, and the government massing against an alien invasion in another. ABC's "Invasion" takes another form: The aliens inhabit dead bodies. NBC's new "Fathom" is about a terrifying new form of life found in the ocean's depths. The WB's "Supernatural" traces two young, good-looking brothers who fight evil ghosts.
As always, the glut comes from network executives seeing what's been successful lately and trying to duplicate it. In this case, it's NBC's "Medium," the USA Network's "The 4400" and especially ABC's "Lost," with that malevolent monster out there somewhere.

The breakup of the traditional family structure is another one of the long term plans of the global elite. Notice how much things have changed within the family institution since the 1950’s. The family structure has remained in tact for the most part for all of the years in history until the last 40-50 yrs. What causes people’s morals to break down all of a sudden at such a rapid rate? Could it be a coincidence the mass breakdown of family values is happening in proportion to the amount of ‘sexual liberation’ being promoted by the social trend?

Slut Pride: Mainstreaming Casual Sex
Henry Makow | May 23 2005
A spate of new books exhorts women to overcome their inhibitions about having casual sex.
Typical is "Happy Hook-Up: A Single Girl's Guide to Casual Sex" which counsels women to proudly embrace the labels "whore" and "slut." It has been excerpted on ivillage.com
Feminist authors Alexa Sherman and Nicole Tocantins pretend to be offering women "options" (as with careers.) Typically, their real agenda is coercive and subversive, to override nature.
"Cultural norms will catch up with us if we give them no choice," the authors write.
"We, as females, need to show the world that sex without commitment is absolutely our prerogative... Say, "I'm a slut I'm a whore! I love sex!" and mean it. Society needs to change and begin to encourage women to find pleasure for pleasure's sake."
Pleasurable sex in the context of a loving marriage isn't mentioned as an "option."
This perverse propaganda is yet another assault on marriage and family, the institutions that sustain us both as individuals and as a society.
For centuries, London-based Masonic bankers have used "sexual liberation" -- sex unfettered by bonds of marriage and love -- to undermine society in advance of their totalitarian New World Order.
Women are naturally monogamous. Surveys indicate they do not find casual sex satisfying and mostly regret it.
Thus "Happy Hook-up" is devoted to helping women overcome their natural instinct to become attached.
Women are instructed not to get to know their sex partner too well. "Try not to discuss too much about your past or future or his. That said, it never hurts to inquire about his sexual history [and] gauge what risks are involved. Then, focus on the action and the action alone."
They are told to terminate the relationship after one or two trysts and distract themselves with work or hobbies.
Don't think about "what's going to happen next, whether he's going to call you, want you and be your everything. It's just not going to happen honey. At least don't expect it to. Stay in control...accept that that's it. Finito. The end. Flip him over. He's done."

PERVERSE MEANS 'UNHEALTHY'

It is perverse to divorce sex from propagation, and fixate on it for pleasure.
I'm NOT saying sex should be confined to propagation. I AM saying it is designed to take place in the psychological and social context of propagation, i.e. marriage or a long-term loving relationship.
Nature has put an alluring bloom on young women for an obvious reason, and it fades in time with their fertility.
Males are attracted to the bloom. In their bee-brains, pleasure is separate from procreation. They deposit their semen and move on to the next flower without concern for the woman or the consequences.
Sexual liberation sanctions and encourages this callous and primitive behavior and invites the woman to collude in her own exploitation and degradation.
It allows the male to take the only thing that interests him and ignore the woman's humanity in terms of her natural life cycle as a wife, mother and grandmother.
Sexual intercourse represents the essence of her commitment to her husband and her offspring. Women who have had many partners find it more diffcult to bond to one man, and consequently he has difficulty bonding with her.
Take away a woman's innocence and she is a man, with a male sex-pattern, treating lovers as sex objects.
Then we have two male pretenders trying to bond. Like many homosexuals, who cannot form biological families, they remain alone, isolated and obsessed with sex.
Casual sex is another form of masturbation, only more risk, trouble and often not as good.
These days, we must strain to remember that sexual intercourse is the ritual of procreation, where an egg is fertilized (or not), and a new being capable of knowing God is created.
Free sex is promoted in order to destroy the heterosexual family. The bankers who financed Communism want the state to replace the father as head of the family.
If they have their way, the family of the future will have no husband or father. This is straight out of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World where babies are born in test tubes.

CONSEQUENCES

Feminism is responsible for turning woman into a sex object by undermining her identity as a wife and mother. Let me remind you of the hate feminist theorists feel toward heterosexuals and the biological family.
In the book, Feminist Politics and Human Nature, Allison Jagger, a philosophy professor at the Univ. of Colorado, writes that the nuclear family is "the corner stone of woman's oppression: it enforces women's dependence on men, it enforces heterosexuality and it imposes the prevailing masculine and feminine character structures on the next generation."
Feminist ideology aims to destroy heterosexual marriage, the cornerstone of social and individual stability. Our purpose, identity, values, support and companionship all depend on our family relationships.
Due to the decline of the family caused by feminism, male-female relations have been reduced to the level of sex and poisoned. Every male and female has become a potential sexual object or predator. It doesn't matter if someone is married or underage. No one is off limits.
Men who do not become husbands and fathers and continue to see women as sex objects suffer from arrested development. Dozens of tits-and-ass magazines like Maxim perpetuate a juvenile attitude. There isn't one print magazine devoted to fatherhood.
Young women today put their energy into sex appeal. Men are attracted by sex, but they stay for a woman's other qualities. Someone said, there is nothing sexier than intelligence.

CONCLUSION

We live in a society under the malignant grip of a satanic totalitarian philosophy, call it neo-Communism. Central bankers want to extend their monopoly on credit to control our bodies, minds and souls as well.
Psychological warfare techniques pioneered in wartime are being directed at us. Under the deception of "protecting" female or homosexual rights, heterosexuals are under relentless attack in schools and the media.
The giveaway is the campaign to treat homosexual and heterosexual marriage as if gays and straights were identical. Equal does not mean identical unless the real goal is to turn heterosexuals into homosexuals, i.e. people who cannot establish a permanent bond with a member of the opposite sex. As someone said, equality = no quality.
The promotion of casual sex is designed to degrade and dehumanize us by attacking our natural heterosexual institutions and mores.
How long are we going to tolerate this vicious underhanded assault on our humanity by political and cultural leaders who have sold us out?

Look what we have here? More new anti-Christian propaganda. They are starting to come out of the woodworks.

This is another drop in the bucket for the de-classification of UFOs. It looks like Brazil is the first country to take this bold step in publicly recognizing the existence of UFOs. Look for other countries to take this type of thing more seriously. These are all small steps to the eventual encounter to dupe the world to bring in the NWO.

Brazil Releases Classified Data - Recognizes UFO Research
Confirmation Of Great News In Brazilian Ufology

Friday, May 20, was an historic day for Ufology in Brazil and in the world as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), for the very first time in its history, officially receives a committee of top UFO researchers to openly discuss sightings in the country and fully exam classified UFO documents in several military facilities in Brasilia, the Federal Capital.

By doing this very important step, Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has placed Brazil in a very short list of countries whose militaries acknowledge the Ufology as a serious activity and significative effort to fully understand the nature and origin of UFOs. "We want to have all info on the subject, that is withheld by us for some decades, fully released to public, through the UFO community", declared brigadier Telles Ribeiro, chief of Brazilian Air Force Communication Center.

The Brazilian Government, through the Brazilian Air Force, has finally decided to come forward and recognize the UFO research as a genuine activity as a direct result of the intense pressure made by the campaign UFOs: Freedom of Information Now, a movement started by the Brazilian UFO Magazine in April 2004. The campaign was launched by the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU), composed of 6 UFO civilian researchers: Claudeir Covo, Marco Petit, Rafael Cury, Reginaldo de Athayde, Fernando Ramalho and A. J. Gevaerd (Athayde was sick an replaced by new interim member veteran UFO researcher Roberto Affonso Back)

Details of the campaign both in Portuguese and in English can be consulted at: www.ufo.com.br and www.ufo.com.br/secrecy.php

A. J. Gevaerd gives to Brazilian Air Force (FAB) brigadier Telles Ribeiro, head of the Brazilian Air Force Communication Center (Cecomsaer), the formal letters of requests that are to be forwarded to Brazilian Air Force (FAB) Commander, the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, for opening for good the secret UFO documents and start an official committee of UFO research. "We want to have all info on the subject, that is withheld by us for some decades, fully released to public, through the UFO community", declared brigadier Telles Ribeiro,.

The approach of the Brazilian military by the CBU committee started last February, ten months after the campaign begun, with a phone call from a Brazilian Air Force spokesman, major Antonio Lorenzo, and a formal invitation to a visit and a chat in some Air Force headquarters in Brasilia. Major Lorenzo fully recognized the UFO researchers, efforts in this field and provided a few details of what kind of reserved files and procedures the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has about the UFO Phenomena and its detection, recording and investigation in the country.

Two meeting between the civilian UFO researchers and the military took place last Friday, May 20, and firstly happened in the headquarters of the Integrated Center of Air Defense and Air Traffic Control (Centro Integrado de Defesa Aérea e Controle de Trafego Aéreo, Cindacta), a very sensitive facility. During two hours, the researchers were given lectures of the procedures conducted at Cindacta and had the chance to visit air traffic control rooms and understand how UFOs could be detected by the Air Force personnel.

From left: Roberto Beck, Rafael Cury, Marco Petit, A. J. Gevaerd, Fernando Ramalho e Claudeir Covo in front of Brazilian Air Defense Command (Comando de Defesa Aerea Brasileiro, Comdabra), a sensitive installation that controls the entire air defense situation in the country and surrounding areas of Atlantic Ocean and South America. The researchers could exam secret UFO files at this facility.

The second and most important meeting took place just after this one at the very reserved facilities of Brazilian Air Defense Command (Comando de Defesa Aerea Brasileiro, Comdabra), an even more sensitive installation that controls the entire air defense situation in the country and surrounding areas of Atlantic Ocean and South America. In this facility the UFO researchers were given full briefing of the top aspects of aerial defense of the country.

It was in this facility that its own commander, brigadier Atheneu Azambuja, admitted to the UFO researchers how concerned the Brazilian military are about the UFO phenomena. Azambuja also gave details of Comdabra procedures and openly admitted that the country has systematically detected and registered UFOs in the country - labeled as "H Traffic" - since 1954. That wasn,t a surprise for the UFO researchers of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU), but how this registering process took place was.

From left: A. J. Gevaerd, Marco Petit, an spokesman from Comdabra, Rafael Cury, Roberto Beck, Fernando Ramalho e Claudeir Covo, at a meeting room at Brazilian Air Defense Command (Comando de Defesa Aerea Brasileiro, Comdabra). After this point of the visit, nothing could be filmed, taped, videoed or even copies and transcripted

After detailed explanations of Comdabra activities, brigadier Atheneu Azambuja, for the first time in history, gave full access to the civilian UFO researchers to exam 3 different folders with classified UFO information, cases from specific dates of 1954, 1977 and 1986. The first case was an airplane pursuit of a UFO in the ocean shores of Paraná State.

The second file was much more important. In the folder containing the 1977 docs that could be examined by the UFO researchers were dozens of cases of UFOs in the Amazon with and amazing amount of over 100 pictures made during the so-called Operation Saucer, an official program of UFO investigation by the military that took place from September to December, 1977, and has been fully covered by specialized UFO press over the world.

The third case was the "The Official Night of UFOs in Brazil", a very significative group of events that happened in May 1986, when 21 objects of over 100 m in diameter jammed Brazilian air traffic control system over Rio de Janeiro, Sao Jose dos Campos and Sao Paulo, mainly, and several jets were sent to intercept - without any success - the intruders.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) representatives at those meetings then fully admitted that Ufology is serious business and broadly recognized the activity of UFO research by the civilian UFO community. And also guaranteed that further steps are about to be taken to let the researchers to exam the entire military UFO files in a more comprehensive way. Plus, a committee of military and civilian UFO researchers was promised to start operating very soon, coordinated by the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU).

This certainly means that we will start a new era in Ufology in Brazil and in South America. Very good things are about to happen as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) command, the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva receive the open letters and formal requests for opening for good the documents and start the mentioned committee, as presented to them by their spokesman.

Are you ready to be labeled as a “terrorist”? It looks like at some point in time, you will be guilty until proven innocent. The FBI has the final say whether you pose a threat to national security? Could you be a potential terrorist for jaywalking? Leaving your national ID card at home? Talking about “taboo” subjects in public such as religion? Criticizing the government? The funny thing is, GW Bush will keep telling us that these steps are necessary for our security and to prevent the terrorists from taking away our freedom. Huh?

FBI's powers may become fearsome
South Mississippi Sun Herald | May 24 2005
Some really scary things are happening around Washington these days.
Congress has become a place of great incivility and rancor, which threaten to undermine any hope of legislative remedy to a myriad of problems, from Social Security to soaring health-care costs to immigration to a steadily crumbling manufacturing base once the envy of the world.
But perhaps the most frightening prospect for Americans is an unfettered national police force with the sole discretion to determine who can be investigated as a potential terrorist. That's the impact of little-known proposals to greatly expand the powers of the FBI, permitting its agents to seize business records without a warrant and to track the mail of those in terrorist inquiries without regard to Postal Service concerns.
Because the government can label almost any group or individual a terrorist threat, the potential for abuse by not having to show probable cause is enormous, prompting civil libertarians to correctly speculate about who will guard against the guardians. Up until now the answer was the Constitution as interpreted by the judiciary. But it is clear that sidestepping any such restriction is the real and present danger of the post-9/11 era.
A wise man, the late Sen. John Williams of Delaware, once counseled that any proposed legislation should be regarded in the light of its worst potential consequence, particularly when it came to laws that enhance the investigative and prosecutorial powers of the government at the expense of civil rights. This is most likely to occur in times of national stress, when the Constitution is always vulnerable to assault - i.e., the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II.
Think it can't happen?
Well, it does all the time.
Ask the lawyer in Oregon whom the FBI misidentified as having taken part in the terrorist bombing of the Spanish railway.
Ask any number of persons since Sept. 11, 2001, arrested and detained for months without charges or counsel before they were released.
If that isn't enough to satisfy you about the inadvisability of these proposals, think back to the Cold War days when the most casual acquaintance with a group or person on J. Edgar Hoover's anti-communist watch list could land one in water hot enough to make life miserable for a long time - maybe even put him or her on one of the infamous blacklists.
If you weren't around in those times, read about them. One thing you will learn quickly is that the sole determination of who or what had communist inclinations belonged to the FBI. Even then, however, Congress was smart enough not to rescind the checks and balances that protect our civil liberties. Federal law-enforcement officers outside the FBI have complained of late about the bureau's penchant for seizing jurisdiction over almost any crime by relating it to terrorism.
Both of these over-reactive proposals are as fearsome as the threat of another al Qaeda attack, for they accomplish the same thing: the intrusion on and disruption of the rights of Americans. Like portions of the Patriot Act, which are rightly being challenged by conservatives as well as liberals, they are medicine worse than the cancer.

It’s amazing how people as unstable as Kim Jong Il can have so much power and influence in the world. This guy belongs in a mental institution and instead he is a dictator of a country with nuclear weapons. This guy’s nuts! Come on man, don’t do anything stupid.

N. Korea Won't Rule Out Pre-Emptive Attack

By PAUL ALEXANDER

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea on Tuesday refused to rule out a pre-emptive attack, even amid signs it may be willing to return to the nuclear bargaining table.

The North poured out anti-American rhetoric - a tactic it has used in the past before entering negotiations - by claiming that Washington's ``hostile policies'' led it to develop nuclear weapons as a deterrent and warning against any attack to dislodge its leadership.

``The United States should be aware that the choice of a pre-emptive attack is not only theirs,'' the North's official news agency quoted the state-run newspaper Minju Joson as saying. ``To stand against force with force is our unswerving method of response.''

The commentary came amid a flurry of contacts aimed at convincing the North to resume six-nation talks, suspended since the third round ended in June, on its nuclear program.
South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun will meet with President Bush in Washington on June 10 to discuss ``bilateral alliance issues and the way forward on North Korea,'' White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.
``The Republic of Korea has been a strong ally and partner in advancing freedom and promoting prosperity in Asia and beyond,'' he said.
Roh's trip was reported earlier Tuesday by South Korea's Yonhap news agency.
Washington is awaiting a response to an overture it made May 13 - days after the North announced it had removed fuel rods from a reactor, a possible step toward extracting weapons-grade plutonium - reportedly at North Korea's office at the United Nations.
U.S. officials said earlier this month that spy satellites showed possible preparations for North Korea's first nuclear-weapons test.
China, the North's strongest ally, said Tuesday it could not confirm reports its neighbor was planning a nuclear test.
``We have expressed many times that we do not know the intentions and situations of North Korea,'' Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said at a regular briefing.
North Korea indicated a willingness Sunday to return to the talks - involving the two Koreas, the United States, Japan, China and Russia - but said it was waiting for Washington to clarify conflicting statements on U.S. policy toward the reclusive communist state.
It reaffirmed North Korea's commitment ``to peacefully resolve the issue through dialogue and negotiations'' and said the North ``will continue to closely watch the U.S. side's attitude, and when the time comes we will officially deliver to the U.S. side our position through the New York contacts.''
McClellan said Monday the Bush administration sees no contradictions in its statements on North Korea.
``The six-party talks are the way forward to resolving this issue. We want to see them come back to the talks. We have no preconditions for returning to the talks and we've made that very clear,'' McClellan said.
South Korea repeatedly brought up the nuclear issue last week during its first face-to-face talks with North Korea in 10 months. While the North refused to allow a mention of the issue in a final joint statement, it did agree to follow-up meetings.
Talks between the two countries were being held Tuesday in the North Korean border village of Kaesong on working out details of a visit by a South Korean delegation to the North's capital, Pyongyang, next month for the fifth anniversary of a historic summit accord.
North Korea on Tuesday also repeated claims its nuclear weapons help protect peace in East Asia.
``It is in the East Asian region, including the Korean Peninsula, where the U.S. moves for vicious attacks and war ... are carried out most seriously,'' Minju Joson said. ``It is our nuclear deterrent that basically guarantees peace and stability.''
The commentary, carried by the Korean Central News Agency, also blamed Washington's ``hostile policies'' for prompting Pyongyang to possess nuclear weapons.

There is more Avian flu news. This is something that has microbiologists very concerned. This has the potential to be a HUGE problem. It looks like there are signs that the virus is mutating. With all of the overseas traveling that people do nowadays, if this thing mutates so where it can be contracted human-to human, we are in big trouble. A huge part of the world’s population is in Asia where this virus seems to be concentrated as of this date. Keep an eye on this. I’m sure we’ll hear more.
China Orders Emergency Measures After Bird Flu Found
Taipei Times
5-23-5

BEIJING -- China has ordered emergency measures to prevent an outbreak of avian flu, including the closure of nature reserves to the public, after investigators said migratory birds found dead in the country's west this month were killed by the virus.

Local authorities were ordered to watch wild birds for signs of disease and impose quarantines if necessary, the official Xinhua News Agency said. It said farms near migration routes were ordered to immunize their birds, while the public was warned to "stop contact with poultry."

The order came hours after the Agriculture Ministry announced that migratory birds found dead May 4 in the western province of Qinghai were killed by the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus. Xinhua said that some came from Southeast Asia but it didn't say what species they were.

The ministry "asked the whole country to pay keen attention to the new confirmed cases of migratory birds and to take effective measures to curb possibly spreading the epidemic," Xinhua said.

It said that the public "should not be too worried," but said "everyone in the country should enhance monitoring for the epidemic and improve their early warning system."

The regional death toll in the latest bird flu outbreak rose to 53 this week when another fatality was reported in Vietnam.

The World Health Organization warned Thursday that the virus poses a great potential threat to humans if it develops the ability to spread easily from person to person. There is no evidence so far of such a change and most cases have been traced to contact with sick birds.

The dead birds were found in Niannaisuoma, a village near the city of Guangcha in Qinghai, Xinhua reported.

"The disease did not spread to [humans] or fowl," Xinhua said. It didn't say how many birds died or give other details.

A report on the Web site of the newspaper Life Daily said 178 birds were found dead on May 4 in the lake at Bird Island, a major research center for migratory water fowl.

China's most recent known case of bird flu occurred last July in the eastern province of Anhui.

WHO Charts Disturbing Changes In Avian Influenza Virus

By Helen Branswell
Canadian Press - Canada.com
5-22-5

The World Health Organization urged countries to make full haste with pandemic influenza preparations on Wed 18 May 2005, as it released a report outlining disturbing changes to the H5N1 virus circulating in Asia. The report raises concerns that molecular and disease pattern evidence may indicate the virus is becoming more adept at infecting people. It also reveals some strains of the H5N1 virus may be developing resistance to oseltamivir, the drug wealthy nations are flocking to stockpile as fears of a pandemic mount.

An influenza expert who helped draft the report said it's meant to convey the message that the level of anxiety regarding the virus has risen. I think it's fair to say that the report signifies a definite step up in concern," said Dr. Keiji Fukuda, a flu specialist from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control who is being seconded to WHO's global influenza program.

The report concedes the authors had limited scientific evidence on which to determine whether H5N1 is becoming an even graver risk to mankind. "We're basically worried that that's what is happening, but we're also saying that there's not quite enough information available, not quite enough data and cases and patterns to really solidly say that is the case," Fukuda said from Atlanta. Fukuda was part of a recent 3-person WHO mission to Viet Nam, where the alarming changes are being observed in the northern part of the country. His team reported last week to a meeting of international experts in Manila; the report was drawn up from their deliberations.

A leading U.S. epidemiologist said the report contains no single smoking gun to suggest H5N1 is becoming a pandemic strain, but the combined evidence paints a compelling picture that cannot be ignored. "I think it tells us that everything about H5N1 is headed in the direction that none of us would like to see it go," said Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy [CIDRAP] at the University of Minnesota. "Do I say that that's going to mean there's an impending pandemic? I don't know that. Does it tell me that ... there's a growing concern about it? Absolutely."

The report of a case in which the virus was partially resistant to oseltamivir will give public health officials around the world pause. Oseltamivir (sold as Tamiflu) is one of only 2 antiviral drugs known to work against H5N1 and is the 1st choice for pandemic planners, because it is easier to use [can be taken by mouth] than the alternative, zanamivir, which is not licensed in Canada. Dr. Frederick Hayden, an antiviral expert at the University of Virginia, insisted it wasn't necessarily disturbing to find limited resistance to the drug, because it has also been documented in a small percentage of infections with human flu strains. Still, the finding raises the specter of a resistant strain of the virus becoming dominant and spreading among people, creating a situation in which the world has virtually no therapeutic weapons to combat pandemic flu in the months before a vaccine could be produced. Hayden noted that human flu strains resistant to oseltamivir are generally less fit and don't transmit as well. But Dr. Earl Brown, an influenza virologist at the University of Ottawa, said oseltamivir is too new a drug for anyone to assume that pattern will persist across all subtypes of influenza. "The indications from the lab data are that the virus is sort of a wimpier virus when it's resistant to the drug," he said. "So if that's always the case, that's good. But I think, given limited experience with the drug, you can't be too categorical at this point."

Fukuda said the authors of the report felt the situation demands close observation. "It's definitely a warning sign that we need to monitor resistance to oseltamivir," he said. "Clearly, that's what we have to do." The report also outlined the disturbing changes in infection patterns in northern Viet Nam, where this spring, there have been more clusters of cases, clusters that lasted for longer periods of time, and a greater age range among human cases. The changing patterns suggest the virus has altered. Among the possibilities is that the genetic mutations have allowed the virus to be transmitted more easily to people in the 1st place, or among them after a 1st case occurs. At the same time, molecular analysis of the virus shows genetic changes near what's known as the "receptor binding site," the point where the invading virus attaches to the cell walls of a host.

Influenza viruses comprised entirely of avian influenza genes don't tend to bind well to human receptor binding sites. But these changes may indicate the virus is evolving to be a better fit. Still, given how little is known about influenza, no one can predict with certainty the implications of these changes.

"The information is pretty sketchy," said Dr. Frank Plummer, scientific director of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg, which sent a team of 3 scientists to Hanoi on Wednesday [18 May 2005]. "And till we know quite a bit more, it's hard to know whether these things are real or not." The team, led by Dr. Yan Li, chief of the influenza laboratory, will help scientists at Viet Nam's National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology analyze blood samples from contacts of H5N1 cases to determine whether additional undetected infections have occurred. "It will help a lot in, I think, clarifying the extent of infection," Plummer said.

Let’s see, the U.S. already has enemies who pose a threat. It has the “terrorists”, Iraqi insurgents, Iran, North Korea. Is it getting closer to adding one more to the list? Doesn’t it make you long for the days of the cold war when there was only one enemy, the USSR? Maybe the fall of communism wasn’t such a great thing after all? But then again, what other option is there? You have to follow the script right?

Pentagon report to portray China as emerging rival
By Demetri Sevastopulo in Washington

The Pentagon is preparing to release a report on the Chinese military that warns the US that it should take more seriously the possibility that China might emerge as a strategic rival to the US, according to a senior government official.
The report has generated controversy in the Bush administration because of earlier drafts that concerned National Security Council officials by painting what they saw as an overly antagonistic picture of China, according to two people with knowledge of the report.
There were also concerns that the report could complicate US efforts to work with China to encourage North Korea to return to the negotiating table over its nuclear programme.
Late on Tuesday a senior government official said the controversy did not concern content but only its “presentation”.
He said it was important to emphasise that the report presented a “range of outcomes” that could materialise along with China's economic growth.
President George W. Bush came to office in 2001 calling China a “strategic competitor” rather than a “strategic partner”, the term favoured by the Clinton administration.
But US-China relations have improved markedly since the 2001 al-Qaeda attacks on the US as China has co-operated in the US “war on terror”.
Two sources said the report would mention “assassin's mace” strategies a term employed during China's warring-states period that referred to secret weapons and strategies used to deceive and defeat enemies quickly which the People's Liberation Army could be developing for use against Taiwan.
The report is expected to emphasise “known unknowns” including the lack of US knowledge about the actual size of theChinese defence budget and its future military strategy.
The language is an attempt to emphasise that the US should not acceptat face value China's statements that it intends to emerge as a peaceful power.
One source defended the original report, saying the Pentagon was simply responding to congressional pressure. He said Duncan Hunter, the chairman of the House armed services committee, and China hawks on the Senate armed services committee were concerned that previous reports had been too soft in assessing China's future strategies.
In recent months, senior US officials, including Donald Rumsfeld, the defence secretary, and Porter Goss, the Central Intelligence Agency director, have voiced concerns about the rapidly expanding Chinese military.
The administration has also criticised China's new anti-secession law, which compels the military to attack Taiwan if it appears to be moving towards independence.

The media is giving the world, especially those in Muslim countries, more reasons to hate the U.S. A Newsweek article last week told us about the U.S. military flushing the Koran down the toilet causing riots. The article was later retracted after the ‘not so friendly’ response from the Muslims. I personally think the report was originally correct. Why don’t they just drop the issue if it was a mistake? The media continues to chew their cud further enraging those offended.

Koran mishandled, general says
Military inquiry: Some abuse--not flushing--went on

WASHINGTON -- An American military inquiry has uncovered five instances in which guards or interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility mishandled the Koran, but found "no credible evidence" to substantiate claims that the Islamic holy book was ever flushed down a toilet, the chief of the investigation said Thursday.

In three cases, the mishandling of the Koran appears to have been deliberate, and in two of the cases it was accidental or unintentional, the commander said, adding that four cases involved guards, and one an interrogator. Two military personnel have been punished for their conduct, one of them recently.

In announcing preliminary findings of his investigation, which began about two weeks ago, Brig. Gen. Jay Hood, commander of the Guantanamo Joint Task Force, said the Koran mishandling did not occur as part of an effort to demoralize or intimidate detainees for interrogation.

Investigation ongoing

But he declined to give further details until he had completed the investigation, which was launched after Newsweek magazine published an article asserting that a separate investigation by the military was expected to find that a Koran had been flushed down a toilet at the detention center. The article, which the magazine subsequently retracted, stirred violence in the Muslim world that claimed at least 17 lives.

"I'd like you to know that we have found no credible evidence that a member of the Joint Task Force at Guantanamo Bay ever flushed a Koran down a toilet," Hood said during a Pentagon news briefing.

He said his investigators conducted a new interview with one detainee quoted in FBI documents released Wednesday as having said under interrogation in 2002 that guards had flushed a Koran down a toilet.

In the new interview, conducted on May 14 as part of Hood's investigation, the detainee said he was not an eyewitness to abuse of the Koran.

Detainee questioned

Hood said his investigators asked the detainee whether he personally had seen any incidents of Koran abuse, "and he allowed as how he hadn't, but he had heard guards--that guards at some other point in time had done this."

The general said he could offer no explanation for any contradiction between the detainee's statements to the FBI in July 2002 and his team's new interview on May 14.

Investigators never posed the specific question about a Koran being flushed down a toilet, Hood said. Nor did they mention his previous statements under interrogation, according to Hood, "but he was asked about defiling, desecration, mistreatment of the Koran."

It was not clear whether the military had reinterviewed the other inmates who are known, through the interrogation reports released Wednesday, to have reported other instances of mishandling the Koran. Hood would not say how many other people, or who, /have been questioned by his team.

The five instances in which the Koran was mishandled, Hood said, were among 13 cases investigated in the last two weeks.

"None of these five incidents was a result of a failure to follow standard operating procedures in place at the time the incident occurred," Hood said. But he added that in the initial months after the Guantanamo prison was set up, and until early 2003, there were not explicit, written rules about the Koran. And he said one of the incidents had broken another, unspecified rule, rather than the prison's standard operating procedures.

The investigation also explored six more incidents of alleged Koran abuse involving guards who, it turned out in each instance, "either accidentally touched the Koran, touched it within the scope of his duties, or did not actually touch the Koran at all," Hood said.

"We consider each of these incidents resolved," the general said, according to The Associated Press.

Military policy takes into account that some Muslims view a non-Muslim touching the Koran as a desecration.

Desecration definition varies

In two other instances of the 13 that were investigated, interrogators either touched a Koran or stood over the Islamic holy book during an interrogation, Hood said.
Neither is being termed Koran mishandling: One involved placing two Korans on a television, Hood said, and in the second the Koran was not touched, and the perceived insult was unintentional.

"We've also identified 15 incidents where detainees mishandled or inappropriately treated the Koran, one of which was, of course, the specific example of a detainee who ripped pages out of their own Koran," the general added.

Hood appeared to be referring to a report cited repeatedly by Pentagon officials, including Gen. Richard Myers, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who have said the detainee had torn pages out of a Koran and used them to stop up a toilet, perhaps in protest of his treatment.

So what’s the big deal about messing with the Koran? It’s just another holy book right? Think again. I remember this guy from Pakistan that I met while I was in Korea. he was devout Muslim. He wrapped his Koran in some special material, closed his eyes and performed a brief prayer when he opened it and treated it like it was a materialization of Muhammed himself. Any report of the U.S. military flushing the Koran down the toilet to Americans is no big deal. To devout Muslims, you are flushing their god down the toilet.

More than a book, a sacred gift
To devout Muslims around the world, the Koran deserves great care and reverence, and preserving it is a lifelong responsibility

Before Ahsan Arozullah touches his fingers to the spine of his Koran and slides it off the topmost bookshelf in his office, he cleanses his body--just as the verses of Islam's holy book cleanse his soul.

In a centuries-old ritual performed and prescribed by Islam's founder, the Prophet Muhammad, Arozullah washes his hands up to his elbows, rinses his mouth and sprinkles water on his bare feet and head--washing away the sins he has committed--before his eyes and hands alight on the hallowed pages.

"There aren't that many things that are sacred," Arozullah said. "We really do believe that these are God's special charmed words."

So when Newsweek reported this month that American interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay prison had flushed a copy of Islam's holy book down a toilet, Arozullah could not help but wonder if the war on terrorism was indeed what some friends insisted: a war on Islam.

The magazine has retracted its story, which sparked riots overseas. On Thursday U.S. officials confirmed five claims that guards or interrogators had mishandled the Koran but found "no credible evidence" that the holy book had been flushed.

For people across the religious spectrum, sacred texts can be touchstones of faith. Like Arozullah, many guard their holy books on high shelves and shrines, inscribe verses on the walls of their homes or burn and bury the words when they are too worn to be discerned.

But for Muslims, the revelation of God's word to the Prophet Muhammad is the core foundation of Islam. The words are believed to have come through the angel Gabriel, and the Koran in the original Arabic is regarded by the devout with as much awe as the Prophet Muhammad--and it is treated accordingly.

The book, made up of 114 chapters known as surahs, is not to be placed on the floor or a chair where it could be stepped or sat upon. It is to be read while sitting upright, not reclined. And, further illustrating why the alleged desecration was so egregious, it should not be carried into the bathroom.

Muslims may study the Koran in translation, but even those who do not speak Arabic memorize and recite the words in the original language to a rhythm that tends to linger in the mind and bestows powerful blessings on those who listen.

"It's really just to build an emotional attachment," Arozullah said of reading and reciting the Koran. "It's not an intellectual exercise. It's a religious exercise. These are words God sent like waves of an ocean. If you want to reach to God, you ride these waves back."

Some say the Muslim attachment to the Koran is tantamount to the Christian connection to Jesus Christ embodied for Roman Catholics in the Holy Eucharist--that both are divine manifestations of God.

"For the Muslim, the Arabic of the Koran is inimitable in its beauty and power and is proof of the thoroughly divine, and thus miraculous, nature of this text," said Scott Alexander, associate professor of Islam at Catholic Theological Union.

Inside the Arozullah home in Lombard, phrases from the Koran etched in calligraphy adorn the walls and doorways, serving as reminders that God is forever present and active in the family's home.

Preserving the word of God is a never-ending task. Every memo or newsletter with a verse from the Koran is stored in a filing cabinet until the family decides how to respectfully discard them.

Before throwing anything out, Arozullah's wife, Nafisa, makes sure the word "Allah" is ripped in half, so as not to discard the name of God intact.

Reverence for the Koran is instilled from an early age. On car trips, the family listens to recitations recorded on CD. And when daughter Khayriyah begins to fuss, Nafisa Arozullah says the familiar cadence sings the infant to sleep.

At the Islamic Foundation School in Villa Park, Hafsa, 9, and Mujahid, 13, take courses in Arabic and the Koran. Mujahid already owns his second Koran. The first one is kept on the top shelf. It is worn and faded from daily readings, and from bouncing around in his backpack.

He admits with chagrin that his backpack was not the best place to keep it. His new Koran now rests next to his father's on a table in the front foyer--a constant reminder that they should study. Both are enrolled in a weekend course to commit the book to memory.

"Having done so, one becomes a great resource for the community," Alexander said, "someone who can introduce the living word of God--and all its manifold blessings--into any and all human situations."

According to Byron Sherwin, a professor of Jewish philosophy, mysticism and religion at the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, observant Jews kiss the Tanakh, or Hebrew Scripture, when it slips from their grasp or falls to the floor. Piles of books are stacked in order of importance, with the Tanakh on top, he said, and prayer books and rabbinical commentaries called the Talmud go below.
When the books wear out, they are buried in Jewish cemeteries or stored in repositories at Orthodox synagogues. Within those pages, he said, resides holiness. Disposing of the Hebrew word for God is not an issue, he said, as Jews simply do not write it down.

For Christians there are no such rules, though many would be offended if the Bible were mistreated, said Rev. Leslie Hoppe, a Franciscan priest and a professor of Old Testament studies at Catholic Theological Union. Although they are discouraged from reading the Bible in the bathroom and encouraged to pray before and after reading, neither is mandatory for private study.

Habeeb Quadri, principal of Muslim Community Center Full-Time School, said his 4th- and 5th-graders generally leave their Korans on the top shelf of their lockers. They are taught to respect any book that contains knowledge, but when handling the Koran they must be clean. They are taught to perform ablution before Koran class.

When reciting the Koran, they are told to be quiet and attentive and to reflect on the words. They should never read the Koran in front of the television, he said.

But some Muslims are not as outraged by the mishandling of what they say amounts to pen on paper.

Ayesha Akhtar, 29, of Forest Park said she would never put the Koran--or any holy book--on the floor. She keeps her volumes of Koran separate from other books in her home and covers herself when she reads. But the written form is not what makes it special, she said.

"It's meant to be memorized and practiced. It's not just meant to be read out of a book," Akhtar said.

For that same reason, Quadri encourages his students to memorize the Koran. That way, it will never disappear.

He added: "The best thing is to have the book in your heart and your mind."

Can you feel the love? This is really evolving into a religious war, a “holy war”, a jihad. The extremists now have even more excuses to destroy the “Great Satan”, the U.S. as they describe it. I really think the stage is being set up for another terrorist attack on U.S. soil, one that will have an even greater affect than 9/11.

Anti-American Rallies Staged in Mideast
By ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press Writer
27 minutes ago
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Thousands of Muslims marched Friday in Islamic countries from Asia to the Middle East, burning symbols of America to protest the alleged desecration of the Quran by military personnel at a U.S. prison in Guantanamo, Bay, Cuba.
The rallies in Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Indonesia, Malaysia and elsewhere followed an admission Thursday by U.S. investigators that Islam's holy book was mishandled at Guantanamo. But American officials claimed it was often inadvertent and denied that any Qurans were flushed down a toilet, as Newsweek magazine had reported in a now-retracted article.
No injuries were reported in Friday's demonstrations, with police simply watching in most places. In India's Kashmir region, however, police fired tear gas and used batons to disperse hundreds of Muslims gathered outside a mosque in the capital of Srinagar.
Women in black veils marched through Kashmir, where schools and businesses were closed as part of the protest, and set American flags and copies of the U.S. Constitution ablaze.
"The defilement of our holy book is outrageous because we consider it to be the word of God," thundered Asiya Andrabi, head of the women's group Daughters of the Community, through her veil. "Guantanamo Bay is a cage. It is not a prison."
More than 15,000 people took to the streets of Pakistan's largest cities. A demonstration in the capital of Islamabad began in a tense atmosphere, just hours after a bomb at a Muslim shrine killed at least 20 people at an annual celebration. The motive for the suspected suicide bombing was not immediately clear.
"We condemn sacrilege of the Quran by U.S. extremists," read one banner draped across a bus while protest leaders chanted into loudspeakers during a rally of at least 2,000 in Islamabad.
In Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta, 5,000 demonstrators chanted slogans against the United States and Britain. Another 5,000 gathered in the southern city of Karachi, demanding the expulsion of the U.S. ambassador. Protests also were held in Lahore, near the Indian border.
The rallies were organized by a hard-line religious coalition, Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal, or United Action Forum — a vocal opponent of Pakistan President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.
About 12,000 people, many of them supporters of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group, gathered in Alexandria, Egypt, filling a three-story building and spilling into surrounding streets, listening to preachers who demanded an apology from U.S. officials. The neighborhood was ringed by police, who arrested 12 of the demonstrator's organizers.
About 1,000 people — mostly lawyers — gathered in downtown Cairo and were surrounded by double that number of riot police.
A similar number gathered in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, carrying black banners and burning American and Israeli flags.
"We will cut off the feet that desecrated the Quran!" the crowd yelled.
Nearly 1,000 people demonstrated in the predominantly Shiite southern Iraqi city of Basra to protest the alleged desecrations. They also condemned the alleged desecration of a Quran in Ramadi two weeks ago by "Americans and Jews."
Two straw dolls — of President Bush and a rabbi — were beaten with shoes and slippers, and American, British and Israeli flags were burned.
Thousands gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan, and demanded an investigation into all actions against Muslims held in Guantanamo.
In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, protesters shouted "Go to hell, America!" and waved placards reading "Long Live Islam," as they burned U.S. and Israeli flags outside the U.S. Embassy. Riot police guarded the compound, and the crowd dispersed peacefully nearly an hour later after handing a note to embassy officials. The protest was the second of its kind in as many weeks.
About 50 people chanted anti-American slogans and threw tomatoes at a portrait of Bush in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. The protesters were outnumbered 4-1 by police officers in riot gear and left after about an hour.
In Bangladesh's capital of Dhaka, about 5,000 people rallied after Friday prayers, spitting on U.S. flags, kicking them and then burning them. They shouted "Death to America!" and "Destroy America!" Many carried copies of the Quran, held over their heads.
The protesters used shoes to beat a Bush dummy and burned an effigy of the president, chanting "Bush — the killer!" Riot police watched the demonstrators, who dispersed peacefully.
"No one has the right to debase our holy book. We are prepared to die to protect the honor of our religion," Fazlul Huq Amini, a lawmaker from Islamic Oikya Jote told the rally.
The groups included Islamic Oikya Jote or Islamic Unity Council, a member of the coalition government led by Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
Anti-U.S. sentiment has been running high in Muslim countries since the Newsweek report. The Bush administration blamed it for demonstrations this month in Afghanistan, where more than a dozen people died and scores were injured.
In Washington on Thursday, investigators confirmed five cases in which military personnel mishandled the Qurans of Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay since 2002. But they said they found no "credible evidence" that a holy book was flushed in a toilet.
Brig. Gen. Jay W. Hood, the Guantanamo Bay prison commander who led the investigation, said five of 15 alleged incidents were substantiated. Four were by guards and one was by an interrogator.
Hood said the five cases "could be broadly defined as mishandling" of the holy book. He refused to discuss details but said two of the cases apparently were accidental.
Hood emphasized that his investigation was not complete.

It’s amazing to see how things have been gradually moving towards the global acceptance and use of this implanted microchip. What seemed like something out of science-fiction not too long ago, is now reality. There have been many silly interpretations of the “mark” prophecy in Revelation in the past, basically because it was too early in the stream of time.. No other time period in history would one have the ability to see what the meaning of the ‘mark’ in the book of Revelation could be. Here we are seeing it unfold in front of our very eyes.

From Biometric Scanning to Microchips and the Mark of the Beast?
Or How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Coming of Antichrist

RNU.com – (Raiders News Update) - Today I learned that Madras High School in the little town of Madras, Oregon is the latest government institution to allow students to pay for their lunch with the swipe of a hand.
Only yesterday in a related event, Chief of Police Jack Schmidig of Bergen County, NJ, a member of the police force for over 30 years, received a VeriChip as part of Applied Digital Solution's strategy of enlisting key regional leaders to accelerate adoption of its implantable product.
Kevin H. McLaughlin, VeriChip Corporation's CEO said of the event that "High-profile regional leaders are accepting the VeriChip, representing an excellent example of our approach to gaining adoption of the technology."
The new and aggressive indoctrination program - Thought and Opinion Leaders to Play Key Role in Adoption of VeriChip - is intended to create widespread acceptance and exponential adaptation of the company's FDA-cleared, human-implantable RFID tag.
Earlier this year ADS provided testimony that safeguards have been implemented to ensure privacy in connection with implantable microchips. ADS received patent rights to Digital Angel (TM) technology on December 10, 1999. What set Digital Angel apart from the competition was the innovative design--a miniature digital transceiver specifically created for human implantation.
According to information released last year the implantable transceiver "sends and receives data and can be continuously tracked by GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) technology. The transceiver's power supply and actuation system are unlike anything ever created. When implanted within a body, the device is powered electromechanically through the movement of muscles, and it can be activated either by the 'wearer' or by the monitoring facility."
An Information Technology report recently verified plans to study implantable chips as a method of tracking terrorists. After first pulling back from the implantable version of its Digital Angel, ADS foresees a unique use of its product under the new name VeriChip in the wake of terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
"We've changed out thinking since September 11," a company spokesman said, "Now there's more of a need to monitor evil activities."
ADS also claims the VeriChip (Digital Angel) has a variety of other uses, such as "providing a tamper-proof means of identification for enhanced e-business security, animal tracking, locating lost or missing individuals, tracking the location of valuable property and monitoring the medical conditions of at-risk patients."
Following the Internet World Wireless 2001 award for "Best of Show: Client Services," Mercedes Walton, President and COO of Applied Digital Solutions, said: ``We have always had high expectations for the Digital Angel products. This award is truly a validation of our faith in Digital Angel's ability to capture the imagination of the public. Consumer anticipation has translated into accelerated interest from potential partners and allies. We are eager to bring Digital Angel to the marketplace in a very timely manner...."
To further advocate Digital Angel technology, Applied Digital Solutions launched a website http://www.digitalangel.net where viewers can peruse diagrams and read summary information.
Other manufacturers of sub-skin implants have quietly field-tested similar devices over the past few years. The London Times reported in October 1998, "Film stars and the children of millionaires are among 45 people, including several Britons, who have been fitted with the chips (called the Sky Eye) in secret tests."
Due to civil liberty and privacy issues, the ACLU announced opposition to mandatory microchip implantation when applied to humans. The ACLU is certain to be a strange bedfellow of Christians and conservatives concerning this issue.
THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY?
Many Christians believe that, before long, an antichrist system will appear. It will be a New World Order, under which national boundaries dissolve, and ethnic groups, ideologies, religions, and economics from around the world, orchestrate a single and dominant sovereignty. The system will supposedly be free of religious and political extremes, and membership will tolerate the philosophical and cultural differences of its constituents. Except for minor nonconformities, war, terrorism, and hunger will be a thing of the past.
According to popular Biblical interpretation, a single personality will surface at the head of the utopian administration. He will appear as a man of distinguished character, but will ultimately become "a king of fierce countenance" (Dan. 8:23).
With imperious decree the Antichrist will facilitate the one-world government, universal religion, and globally monitored socialism. Those who refuse his New World Order will inevitably be imprisoned or destroyed, until at last he exalts himself "above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he, as God, sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God" (2 Thess. 2:4).
The Antichrist's widespread power will be derived at the expense of individual human liberties. He will force "all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six [666]" (Rev. 13:16-18).
For many years the idea that humans could somehow succumb to little more than branded cattle, and that rugged individualism would thereafter be sacrificed for an anesthetized universal harmony, was repudiated by America’s greatest minds.
Then, in the 1970’s, things began to change. Following a call by Nelson Rockefeller for the creation of a "New World Order," presidential candidate Jimmy Carter campaigned, saying, "We must replace balance of power politics with world order politics."
During the 1980's President George Bush continued the one-world dirge, announcing over national television that "a New World Order" had arrived. Following the initial broadcast, President Bush addressed the Congress, saying,
What is at stake is more than one small country [Kuwait], it is a big idea--a new world order, where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind: peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law. Such is a world worthy of our struggle, and worthy of our children’s future!
Ever since the President's astonishing newscast, a parade of political and religious leaders have discharged a profusion of rhetoric aimed at implementing the goals of a New World Order.
Developers of biometric implant chips employ similar language in announcing compatible global technologies, and many Americans consider electronically marking humans or implanting a series of digital equations beneath the skin to be the natural progress of advancing and necessary technologies.

A 1980 defense department cartoon showing a change taking place in Defense Management. A runner hands over plans for national defense to another runner with "666" on his track suit.

IT SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE
Some people believe implantable microchips will be the Biblical Mark of the Beast. These claim that acts of terrorism such as the ones in New York and Washington, encourage microchipping humans for identification purposes.
But even before the New York and Pentagon tragedies, a push was being made to brand and monitor humanity.
Consider the following:
As far back as 1973, Senior Scholastics introduced school age children to the concept of buying and selling using numbers inserted in their forehead. In the September 20, 1973 feature "Who Is Watching You?" the secular high school journal speculated:
"All buying and selling in the program will be done by computer. No currency, no change, no checks. In the program, people would receive a number that had been assigned them tattooed in their wrist or forehead. The number is put on by laser beam and cannot be felt. The number in the body is not seen with the naked eye and is as permanent as your fingerprints. All items of consumer goods will be marked with a computer mark. The computer outlet in the store which picks up the number on the items at the checkstand will also pick up the number in the person's body and automatically total the price and deduct the amount from the person's 'Special Drawing Rights' account."
In the 1974 article "The Specter of Eugenics," Charles Frankel pointed out Linus Pauling's (Nobel Prize winner) suggestions that a mark be tattooed on the foot or forehead of every young person. Pauling envisioned a mark denoting genotype.
In 1980, U.S. News and World Report continued the warning, pointing out that the Federal Government was contemplating "National Identity Cards," without which nobody could work or conduct business.
The Denver Post Sun followed up in 1981, claiming that chip implants could someday replace I.D. cards. The June 21, 1981 story read in part, "The chip is placed in a needle which is affixed to a simple syringe containing an anti-bacterial solution. The needle is capped and ready to forever identify something--or somebody."
The May 7, 1996 Chicago Tribune questioned the technology, wondering aloud if we could trust Big Brother under our skin?
Then in 1997 applications for patents of subcutaneous implant devices for "a person or an animal" were applied for.
On April 27, 1998, Time Magazine ran the story, The Big Bank Theory And What It Says About The Future OF Money, in which they opined "Your daughter can store the money any way she wants--on her laptop, on a debit card, even (in the not too distant future) on a chip implanted under her skin."
In August 1998 the BBC covered the first known human microchip implantation.
That same month the Sunday Oregonian warned that proposed medical identifiers might erode privacy rights by tracking individuals through alphanumeric health identifier technologies. The startling Oregonian feature depicted humans with barcodes in their foreheads.
Senator Robb (Virginia) felt it necessary to add the MARC (multi-technology automated reader card) Card Amendment to the FY97 DOD Authorization Bill.
One can only speculate why bionics is now attempting to create organisms that contain linked organic (human cells) material with biometric chips for human implantation (documentation site).
Recently millions of Today Show viewers watched an American family get "chipped" with ADS's VeriChip™ live from a doctor's office in Boca Raton.

Meanwhile, terrorism has many people in the mood these days to sacrifice human liberties... and Digital Angel has opened its mass production factory in Palm Beach, Florida.

WILL DIGITAL "MARKS" SOON BE MANDATORY?
Makers of implantable microchips claim the procedure will be voluntary. But a report written by Elaine M. Ramish for the Franklin Pierce Law Center says:
"A [mandatory] national identification system via microchip implants could be achieved in two stages: Upon introduction as a voluntary system, the microchip implantation will appear to be palatable. After there is a familiarity with the procedure and a knowledge of its benefits, implantation would be mandatory."
George Getz, the communications director for the Libertarian Party agrees, saying:
After all, the government has never forced anyone to have a driver license, [but] try getting along without one, when everyone from your local banker to the car rental man to the hotel operator to the grocery store requires one in order for you to take advantage of their services, that amounts to a de facto mandate. If the government can force you to surrender your fingerprints to get a drivers license, why can't it force you to get a computer chip implant?
People like Mr. Getz are correct. Conservatives and liberals alike need to contact state and federal representatives and demand laws preserving individual rights before Digital Angel and similar forces lead humanity down a high-tech path of no return.
In the same way Social Security numbers were voluntary before becoming defacto-mandatory, biometric chip implants will be compulsory in the future unless citizens rise up in immediate and national opposition. Even Applied Digital Solution's chief executive officer Richard Sullivan envisions a scenario where ``people [are] required to be chipped or [have] some combination of a device requiring them to be scanned and monitored at all times.''
Note what the prophet said!
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark (charagma; [Greek charax] meaning to stake into or "stick into") in their right hand, or in their foreheads....Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six (Rev. 13:16-18)
Did the prophet foresee a hypodermic needle injecting something beneath the skin? Sounds like it.
A temporary victory was won against such ideas following the original news story by Raiders News Update concerning ADS's implantable microchip intentions in 1999. News services across the web ran our story resulting in an inundation by concerned readers. ADS's shares droped on the Nasdaq from $5.00 to .50 each. ADS then released this statement:
"We are not pursuing any applications for embedded chips and we have moved away from that for a couple of reasons....There are a number of privacy concerns and religious implications -- fundamentalist Christian groups [Raiders News Update] regard it [implanting computer chips] as the Devil's work."
The reprieve didn't last long. The Palm Beach testing center's wristwatch version of Digital Angel was successful and ADS announced it would "start implanting them inside humans between the muscle and the skin on the forearm next year."
Then on 9-11, terrorism came along, the perfect incentive for mandating everything from face scanning to implantable chips as not only inevitable, but perhaps simply a good idea.
These are differences in degree, not in kind, and forecast a prediction made long ago:
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. (Rev. 14:9-11)
